Every time I see 3-4 mentioned, visions of Sal Sunseri dances through my head. I know it is irrational, but I can't help myself.
Someone told me that when they saw he was fired I was the first person they thought of because I was calling for his head so long ago and they knew how happy I’d be.
"Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.” It's a little wordy, but that's the defense I want to see.
Sal Sunseri didn't understand basic 3-4 concepts. Don't let that moron sour you on the mecca of defenses.
Thanks for the encouragement. Seriously. That is why I said "irrational". TBH, I am not sure what, if any, concepts, he understood. My primer drivers for defense is beat your guy and tackle the bastages quickly and forcefully. I don't care how you line up. My inside voice for both Sunseri and Banks defenses were, "WTF!!" The amount of exclamation marks (!) were the only thing that varied from time-to-time. Both made me want to break a bag of lightbulbs.
I dont really care what scheme the new guy uses. What matters more than anything is being able to put 11 men on the field who are confident in their responsibilities. When you can do that, everyone is a step faster and more aggressive.
I can't wait for Walters to get here and run more of the same we've seen. When was the last time we brought in a new DC alone and saw real improvements? I'm not saying it can't happen, but overall, we don't have a stellar record of getting the right guy at that position.
