Looking at WVU

I thought maybe we should just have a specific thread for WVU roster discussion.

I just saw that WVU did add two defensive linemen transfers this year, one being a former 3 star starter and another being a 5 star. At a glance, this dampens my hopes of their run defense still being atrocious.

Hit Grier early and often. Hold them to 28 amd we win.

 

And I looked at their schedule from last year with my FIL yesterday.

They suck.

Same could be said of us, but we have multiplied by subtraction during the off season.

 

Was skipping through some 2017 games (vs. ISU & KSU) on youtube to look at their offense. There are times when they get stuck in a rut, constantly running out of shotgun for 2-3 yards and throwing bubble screens.

Then you see Grier read a blitz and complete a bomb down the sideline, and it's scary as hell.

Kenny Bigelow has had two major knee surgeries and has already quit football once.

Robinson had 19 tackles last year at Clemson.

 

Wondering if WVU is better or worse than Bowling Green in 2015.

 

Easily better

 

Feels more like NC State in 2012 to me

 

I would think so, especially on D, but that BG offense was pretty damn good.

 

I kinda think we'll get handled in this one.

Much like Butch's triumph over VT, if there was a December rematch we'll smoke them, but Labor Day weekend they're the better squad.

 

WVU better.

 

I'd take a 4th string transfer off that DL at Clemson.

 

A tale of two attacks. Wouldn't surprise me if both defenses struggle.

 

will Pruitt basically give WVU mismatches like Butch and Shoop did. Will we show blitzes too early and get picked apart. Will our lbs stay 5 yards deep ready to grab a rb as he runs by if we get off the block of the guard. Will we refuse to set the edge. Will our first steps on D be back on our heels or toward the los. Will our DL disrupt or stand up straight.
Hopefully all will be corrected, but you know some players will revert to the passive read and react shit we had before rather than make the offense adjust to us.

 

WVU'S defense is nonexistent

 

Yeah but I'm not expecting an offensive flip W1.

Also, if we're ranking units I'd put their offense easily at the top.
