Not really. They both have certain similar role playing elements, but Skyrim is more of a pure RPG while Mass Effect is more of a third person shooter/RPG hybrid where you make certain choices throughout the story with those choices affecting the plot and the people around you. Both are great games. Would recommend playing the first two beforehand, if you're looking into getting into Mass Effect, though.
suit yourself. You won't really know what's going on, and some elements of the story might be different than if you had controlled them yourself.
I would at least get a game file save offline with a certain setup and use it for ME3. I think the story will play out better that way. If you are familiar with rehashing and Modio, its pretty easy.
There's a good chance you're not not going to have a clue what's going on story wise. Just a fair warning.
True, there probably is. It just cheapens the experience to an extent IMO. The whole series so far has been more about the storyline and the choices you make with your character rathar than than the core gameplay....so they were more or less meant to be played in order at the very least to get a sense on how developed your character and those around him/her have become by ME 3. It's like reading the cliffnotes to the entire Star Wars saga and then jumping right into ROTJ.
Search your feelings. You know it to be true. I'm taking off work next Tues for ME3. 2nd time I've done that for a game. The ME story is one of my favorites. Hope the 3rd one lives up.
I envy you since i can't play this right now.... Then i remember i'm in Florida and i am perfectly happy with waiting a few days.
