AI said 2-3 million homes are listed on short term rental platforms in the US (over double that worldwide). I went with it but your wife may be smarter than chatgpt.
1. If it isnt as many/as impactful as some think then there is no harm. 2. If it isnt as many/impactful then your wife is contradicting herself because that would be a valid criticism 3. The size of a problem like this is relative. If it is happening in your community at scale, which in some it is, and you are looking to become a homeowner then it is a life altering problem- even if it doesnt change the national picture much. 4. I haven't seen a single person against this so I guess no one gets to love seeing it get twisted because trump did it. In fact, I enjoy seeing people wrongly predict things based off of TDS and not even grasp that they are demonstrating there is not TDS in the way they think.
I assume this is directed at me. 1. No one said there was any harm. It's a good thing either way. 2. How would that be a valid criticism? Positive impact is positive, even if it's not as significant as some think it will be. 3. I agree. 4. It feels a bit premature to declare victory on that front, but you do you. One of the first questions she asked me in the early stages of dating was whether I voted for Trump (as in, she didn't want to date someone who voted for Trump). So her perspective on TDS is unique, as someone who now admits she used to have it (but still doesn't "support" Trump either).
2. Because people want to put a notch in his win column, and if it makes no difference it wouldnt be a win. But I do think it is a win.
I don't know where the "no difference" piece is coming from. My initial post said "positive move, but probably not as impactful as some are thinking/hoping."
