UTAD is still a feeble flaccid ****.

Said AD is an obvious lesbian who doesn't know how to get any blood flow to aforementioned ****.

But he'll make a home run hire, by God.

The AD is only slightly better now than in the last of the Hamilton years.

Just had a basketball coach voluntarily leave for Cal, track program is totally tanked, Lady Vols have slipped, and football is one Lane Kiffin win away from coming off six consecutive losing seasons (still have four in a row as it stands). Baseball is looking up, though.

Hart just held private meetings with the Executive Athletic Club to discuss how awesomely we're doing on the ledger.

I think that we may have upwards of $750K at our ready disposal, which dominates the collegiate fiscal landscape, insofar as its only measured amongst other schools in East Tennessee.

How long do the pocket books have to stay closed for Hart to get tossed? Or is Cheek so numb it doesn't matter?

    Hart can't move without Cheek.

    Cheek can't move without DiPietro.

DiPietro can't move without Haslam (take your pick).

If any of those weren't doing exactly what the one above them wanted, they'd be gone. That they're not, should be telling.

    If A = B, then B = ?

At some point you have to change the way you think. Perhaps its a mistake to assume that our plight is simply the result of unfortunate happenstance - bungling incompetence, even. When everyone finally begins to realize that these things happen exactly as they are intended, just as they are planned and ordered, the conversation will change.

    More succinctly to your question.

There are no closed pocketbooks amongst the heaviest hitting boosters, IP.

    Everything is fine.

    BizTime told me.

The Fulmer to AD conspiracy? Or something else? Why would Haslam intentionally screw us? Or is it "well-intended" screwing?

If I had to speculate/guess, sure the "biggest" pocket books are there, but real money comes from combining several boosters' resources. That doesn't seem to be happening the last few years. Like someone has the reins and is playing chief, so the other guys are stepping back and waiting until the reins are willing to be shared again before throwing in.

Could be totally wrong, I have no sources. Just an impression.

What we (you and I) see as "screwing us" might be viewed differently by others. In fact, where we may find it to be completely unacceptable, others see it as being entirely what they want.

A burglarized house is a tragedy to the homeowner, a mystery to the police and a success to the burgler. (Don't read too far into that, it's just an analogy).

    It's all about perspective.

While I do not in any way believe that anyone is intentionally screwing us.....personalities and egos loom so much larger in these things than most people could ever comprehend, even were they to witness it, first hand.

As a purely hypothetical example, let's say that you had a big-time booster, a cornerstone type, who was just unwaveringly adamant in their belief that you shouldn't have to coax a high-caliber coach to come to Tennessee with the money that such requires. Instead, they assert that a coach should simply be willing to do so, ostensibly, because they should also understand and equally believe (somehow) that it was such a great and wonderful place to be, and that they were so fortunate to be invited to join, as to make money of secondary (or tertiary) importance.

Does that booster hate Tennessee? No.

Does that booster believe that s/he is "screwing" Tennessee? Certainly not, and quite to the contrary, they feel like they are in many ways protecting it, by only hiring someone who "really" wants to be here, and not just for the sake of money.

Is that an incredibly unrealistic and short-sighted belief to hold, at all, much less with unwavering certainty? Absoutely, yes, it is.

Does it work against us, however unintentionally? Absolutely, yes.

Should someone in a similar position of leadership be both willing and able to point this out, or to even contradict this opinion, if necessary? Absolutely, if they are both a strong and competent enough leader, and who possess a clear enough vision for where we are, and could be.

If that person did attempt to change this booster's mind - and failed - should they then avail the help of someone with more power / influence / persuasiveness to make a similar attempt? Yes.

Even if those persons were just as weak, short-sighted, incompetent and psychotically controlling and self-protective as you? Yes, but they're not going to be of any more help than you were, or even be willing to have the conversation, really, and who will instead defer.

And if that fails, should you then avail yourself of the help of other boosters to either bring influence onto the first, or who could provide the means to get done what needs to be done - even in opposition to or regardless of the original booster's steady position, against it? Well, you should, but only if your obsessive pandering to the original booster hasn't already repelled those other and necessary boosters from you, for instance, when you stuck with the original booster and ran over the rest of them in he course of another large and recent decision.

Does that second and hypothetically disenfranchised group of secondary boosters (whom you previously and recently jilted) now believe that you are a incompetent leader who should not be allowed to remain at your post, given your glaringly obvious weaknesses as a leader and strategist? Almost certainly.

Do they think that your remaining in that position is good for the Univeristy? Probably not.

Would your removal be best accomplished by their now jumping in to save you from a calamity of your own making, or not? I'd say they'd be content with watching you twist in the wind. Maybe until they got over it, or perhaps not even until you were out the door.

What will the secondary booster do in the interim? Sit and watch, perfectly content to watch you now have to play by the original boosters rules, using his checkbook alone, which they felt like you've chosen to do, and deserve.

Again, just a purely hypothetical - fictitious, even - example, of my own invention, and not based or intended to represent any truth of actual person(s) living or dead, or entities, real or fictional.

But, does that help you to see how they all think they're "helping"?

Just a quick and completely unrelated aside: when several members of the national media consistently and independently identify something as being "dysfunctional" .......it probably is, and to a far greater extent than even they know.
