Way too late, imo. I've said it before. I'll never buy Mitsubishi.

Of family members who died as Japanese slaves? No, it is a short one.

Only time I will is if an architect/engineer has spec'ed a Mitsubishi hvac unit.

    1) I don't

    2) They've apologized for decades.

I feel this is more self serving than it is genuine.

I probably should have had the word may in my post. The Japanese regularly misread American's way of thinking, and I just wonder if Mitsubishi is not thinking an apology will increase revenue for them.

Ah. I thought you meant IPs position.

    I misinterpreted you as well.

You're right about that being a possible motivation. But those who didn't want to buy from them before still won't want to, and those who didn't care enough to know about this issue before still won't care.

imo, it's like apologizing for slavery 200 years ago. None of the perpetrators are still alive. Apology at this point is meaningless, as is the grudge.

I don't disagree with this. IP and I just both took RB's post to be directed at IP's statement, not Mitsubishi.
