Let's be real though. The pressure would have gotten to ole Clayton.

6 between 2009-2012, including 3 in 2012 alone. Then not one since; definitely seems to go in waves.

I don't remember Phil Humber getting one, but apparently he did. The same Phil Humber who finished his career 16-23 with a 5.31 era.

Just a little bit worse than Dallas Braden.

That was the era that was transitioning to what we’re in now. Pitchers were starting to throw harder and better stuff but there were still lots of complete games. I think it makes sense that you saw a lot in that 4 year stretch

There were 9 no-hitters in 2021 (7 CG, 2 combined), most in MLB history.

For at least 20 years, teams have been weird about pitchers in the first start of the season. After the lockout interrupted spring training, this shouldn't be a surprise.

My kid is on the t-ball Cardinals. Probably won’t try to get him into watching baseball until he’s on another team. Too risky.

I do not understand the logic of playing him every other day. Either he’s ready to play or he isn’t

Maybe he’s not ready to play every day

He's jumping around in the dugout like a 7 year old hopped up on caffeine. If his knee is ready for baseball, I don't see the point. Especially with the DH.
