I always thought that most of what happened with Crompton was Chaney.

Kiffin is a good playcaller... but a coordinator? On his own, without Sark and Chaney actually being his OC? I guess we'll see what he can do with the most talent-laden roster in college football.

Word back then was Crompton's development had more to do with Reaves than Chaney.

Chaney couldn't develop Bray in three years. What makes you believe he had the ability to turn Crompton a complete 180.

Reaves is so good he works for New Mexico.

He was a bag man, nothing else.

You saw Kiffin's offense in 09. You saw Chaney's throughout Dooley's tenure

I thought the offense was honestly fine in most of that time. The playcalling was atrocious, though, and the lack of any team cohesion was apparent.

I've always seen Chaney as a good Xs and Os guy but in interviews you can see how he wouldn't exactly inspire a team to play well. Chaney needed a guy like Kiffin and vice-versa. Chaney definitely couldn't draw up a competent gameplan and call plays to support it. Always gave up on the run too early which lead to a lot of desperate heaves from Bray and 2nd half mental meltdowns.
