If Coach Martin can go find a JUCO post and a JC point to push/usurp Golden, UT can put an NCAA Tournament caliber team on the floor next year.
There are always a small number of both available in the spring. JUCO recruiting really heats up during the season.
I know very very little about juco recruiting. I would think a 1 alone could make a ton of difference.
Look at the difference Sam Grooms has made at OU. Kruger signed him after he got the job last spring.
I'm trying to think about JUCO players in Tennessee hoops history who were contributors and couldn't come up with many names off the top of my head: Melvin Goins, Bobby Mays, Damon Johnson, Shane Williams... Was Greg Bell a JUCO player at one time? Any others I'm missing?
If Martin can get our roster to tournament caliber next season, he'll be exceeding my expectations. But then, the basketball guys here have been saying a good coach doesn't need 3 years in basketball.
With guys having to play one year of college you can turn a program around in a year if you are a great recruiter. John Calapari is an example.
