O&W Game Thread

Here are the stats for those interested:

University of Tennessee Athletics: Football

Rushing stats look good for both teams and the passing stats weren't bad either. Just need to work on finishing drives. Need to keep in mind that we can't count on any drive ending with a field goal, either.

 

It comes on SportsSouth tonight at 8 for anyone like me who didn't get to see it.

Watching it again. You catch a lot of stuff on tv that you don't in person. That was really good throw by Bray on the stop n go to Rogers.

 

Special teams suck. Terrible punting. Short knockoffs. Marlin Lane looks away just before the ball gets to him on a punt return. Palardy has an EP tipped. That's nine minutes into the game.

 

Thought: Is Sapp quick enough to play strong safety? In other words, could he be what they wanted Brewer to become? He seems to always be around the ball.

 

I would have been better off not watching this.

 

Besides special teams, what do you see that you don't like Card?

 

Stagnant offense against 2nd team.

The fact we're running a bastardized spread offense.

Running game still not impressive to me.

And, oh, my 2 year old could kick better than palardy.

 

Ok, the run right before the half was impressive.

 

Just noticed Prentiss technically stopped him five or so yards shy of the TD. He just reached out to touch him rather than attempting a tackle as he is in the red jersey.

 

There have been several questions about the 3-4. Hopefully you guys see what I meant during that discussion when I said that there would be many looks that would be virtually the same as a 4-3 look. Even though it's 3-4 principles, there's been many 40 look fronts. Many of those 40 looks came in a nickel package.

 

And the running game sucks gain. Thanks Kpt.

 

I think it has improved. Not where it needs to be, but its better than last year.

 

I just want Jacques to be moved around and his only assignment is to try and kill the QB.

 

Really? I thought we ran pretty much at will against the 2nd team

 

It's not much better. Lane looked good but it was against pathetic LBs.

 

Losing Otha and Dalton was a lot bigger deal than I initially thought.

 

Harris' ACL probably didn't help things, but we needed immediate help on the two-deep at LB. We may have depth at Jack, but everywhere else, we need converted safeties to play like linebackers and/or Greg King to stay healthy.

 

Short of this team lining up against nc state and doing to them what they did to Cincinnati last year, I will remain highly, highly skeptical anything has much changed.

I gave Dooley a lot more faith for a longer period than most. Is going to be really hard for him to regain faith from me.
