OL Coach Don Mahoney - Has to Go

This is not only the worst o-line I've ever seen at Tennessee, but as the season has went along, it seems by an increasingly wider margin. Even when giving maximum consideration for their inexperience, this line is nothing short of consistently abysmal.

In my mind, this will be the first clear indication of whether Jones will make the changes necessary to his staff, or not, going forward. If he continues to employ Mahoney beyond this season, even despite how glaring obvious and soul-crushing bad his unit has consistently been, then it's going to be a strong indicator as to what Jones is truly building, or how long he will last here.

If you can read this guy's resume and think that the next logical progression in his career would have been as offensive line coach at Tennessee, then you are also part of the problem (from bio on UT website):

    COACHING EXPERIENCE
    » 2013-present: Tennessee, offensive line
    » 2010-12: Cincinnati, offensive line
» 2007-09: Central Michigan, offensive line
    » 1999-2006: Tulane, offensive line
» 1995-98: Central Michigan, tight ends

To keep this guy, given all that we've seen thus far, is indefensible, IMO.

He coached Eric Fisher for one season. He may have coached Joe Staley for one year too, but I don't think he did.

I agree with you, nothing will ever change.

I don't even think with his job on the line he would make a staff change.

Technically he put 4 in the NFL last year. It hurts typing this.

Didn't Stone or one of them come out and basically thank Pittman?

I don't know about that but they did lobby to keep him.

Also, yes, I agree, Mahoney has to go.

I'm no fan of Bagina but with how ridiculous the OL is it would be difficult for a head-in-the-sand OC to run his offense. I think against USC and UK we saw what the Offense can do if it's given a modicum of time to operate.

This OL is pillowy soft and isn't playing zone blocking which it should be. Marcus Jackson is awful... has no idea how to block a stunt and was getting abused. Kerbyson was getting abused. They're all criminally awful.

For the .1% of me that thought he should be retained, it's been wiped away.
