Was this your home phone? (I know who has one of those right?) I ask only because on my iPhone, for example, it shows me the number and the city the call is from. Not familiar with any other phone brand, so I’m not sure how you saw it was the “sheriff’s office”.

Outside of calling the actual Sheriff’s office and reporting the call, probably not much else you can do.

Yep, I believe if it's a spoofed number committing fraud it's automatically FBI, at least initially, since they can't guarantee it's an intrastate crime.
