The plague wiped out about 1/3 of Europe's population and it was even worse in Asia. We are screwed. The time to panic is now.

Wiping out 1/3 of our population may improve things, don't think it could hurt at this point.

Speaking of sensationalism - two things stand out from my youth

    1. We were all going to be killed by the killer bees.
    2. If they didn't get us, fire ants were going to.

In all seriousness, I remember reading a story about fire ants when I was 9 or 10, and the last line of the story said something to the affect of, "Soon they could be anywhere, even in your bed," and I was terrified for a long time I would go to sleep and fire ants would kill me in my sleep.

I always remember being terrified of catching on fire from all of the Stop, Drop, and Roll shit in Elementary school. I figured it happened to everyone at some point, as often as they talked about it.

I've built up a bit of a tolerance to fire ant venom. Bastards.

"Bob was walking down the sidewalk. Suddenly a swarm of angry killer bees attacked him and stung him for 13 hours straight. While he was screaming in pain the bees set up a guard to attack anyone else who might come to rescue him. As no one could do anything but look on in sheer horror the bees stung him over and over, and as they finished their murder they buzzed a horrifying buzz as they moved on to their next random victim.

This could be and probably will be you."
