For sure. I think he is just trying to play both sides and pretty well keep his nose out of it. Which is fair.
I think that is the most responsible thing for those of us not living/working near or in NYC. I don't really understand the ins and outs of living there. And I don't really care to. It isn't for me. I barely enjoy visiting. I do see that it is nothing like a medium sized or smaller city.
You and I are one and the same. I grew up near Chicago and want nothing to do with a big City life anymore, I understand the allure just not for me.
This is great. Again, people are sending a message. I don't think this is so much about full support of platform or ideology, rather the complete ineffectiveness and self-serving nature of current parties and politicians.
Yes, and Democrats winning all over the place tonight. I said last year to the MAGA people that political moods are fleeting. It comes and goes. Mamdani rode a wave of discontent and read the room perfectly while representing himself as something other than the product of the machine. And, of course, he'll get about six months before enough people are pissed off at him for......whatever.
The markets are way down, I need more negative action to sink my teeth in again. People are so overreactive, kinda like our fans.
Look I get why people are frustrated and would be willing to vote for serious change, but the amount of people not able to see through Zohran is shocking to me. He makes Gavin Newsom look authentic. And probably fundamentally hates America just like his father but that’s another conversation. To say nothing of the fact that he has no experience whatsoever doing anything let alone politics and odds are he’ll fall on his face immediately.
Polls are polls but if the majority of his voters don’t believe he will come thru with his promises, what are they voting on? I guess voting against the establishment and old white man but surely they aren’t expecting to make $30/hr minimum wage while getting free transport and healthcare. I imagine some voted for him because he hates Israel and from support back to when he called NYPD a bunch of racists. I dunno. I think it’s more in line with people who voted for Trump who don’t believe a word he says but voted for him because “screw the other side..”
Or is it that we have a record number of versions of "America" as concept that they love? Like [uck fay]ing over the right kind of people and making money on insider info, kicking up one's heels and saying "man do I love America!"
As I am not a New Yorker, I have paid zero percent of my energy reading or learning about this guy. I doubt he "hates America". You can not like what America is doing without hating America itself. But I am sure that more people voted for this guy as an anti-Trump than anything. The political pendulum is rocking back and forth these days like the pendulum was on the surface of the Sun.
So much of Zohran's campaign was about how much he loves NYC, including the scavenger hunt that I'm pretty sure HCKS complained about here, just for him to turn around and say Zohran "hates America" lol
