How long does putting a staff together right now take? And how hard is this to do at this point in the game?
Looks like Lebby is a no go. Golesh and Halzle are definitely coming with Heupel. Elarbee is up in the air. Osovet might be the only assistant retained.
Its gotta be somewhat unattractive for a top end DC. The number of snaps and time on the field will be conducive to surrendering more yards and points, which makes you less marketable if you have to leave UT. I’m just hoping we’re able to find some great recruiters who can load up the athletes on that side of the ball.
I think we'll be fine if we can get a DC that can generate a lot of pressure and capitalize on mistakes, kinda like what Oregon had for a stretch there.
so Steele getting bought out of two years after two weeks of work. Wow. WOW. WTF is going on over there.
Buying out Steele is fairly concerning to me. I suppose he took the gig thinking he might end up as HC or make some cash on buyout. Worked I guess. I would have liked to see Steele and Mayo co-DCs.
Wanted Lebby, but I'm cool with him bringing his offensive guys. Still think recruiting will suck unless we show something with the firepower we currently have.
I just don't believe they couldn't have found a role for him. And if they have that kind of money, I'd rather have paid Pruitt out something and then talked to Sexton for Kiffin.
People thinking we're going to pry Muschamp away from Kirby and his alma mater are insane. It'd likely be a job-saving hire for JH... but it won't happen. Same with Odom.
