Trump won't even say that june is Pride month(which Obama did every year he was POTUS btw). He has made rolling back Obama-era protections for LGBT persons a cornerstone of his domestic policy. I understand your qualifier of "when assuming office". And I respectfully say, shove it up your ass, I intentionally did not include it in my statement. I have no desire to have a pissing contest on if Trump or Obama was more LGBTQ friendly on day 1 of their presidencies(and certainly not based on the singular criteria of support for some form of same-sex marriage). Their actions during the rest of their time spent as POTUS speak for themselves.

That's a very charitable and narrow qualifier of being "Most Friendly".

We may have had two of our friendliest presidents recently, but we still haven't had one who has fully embraced that LGBTQ+ people's personal rights are self-evident as all humans, and should not be specially restricted in their eligibility for any civil or medical desire or need.

It's just mainstream to be tolerant now. I would like to see it move into irrelevance, like Catholicism vs protestants.

Oh, you wanted, what - a Tweet?

Multi-colored lights on the White House?

What’s an appropriate level of celebrating Pride month?

How about his global initiative to stop the criminalization of homosexuality throughout the world?

How about being the first GOP nominee to mention his support for gay rights, and during his nomination acceptance speech at the GOP convention?

What about his insisting that Peter Thiel also received a key speech at the same GOP convention, himself, an openly gay man?

What about his naming the first openly gay man as ambassador for a major ally (Grenell, Germany)?

His Executive Order which extended the protections for GLBT’s in the workplace? How to explain that he didn’t “roll that back”?

I hope that you did understand my qualifier, as it’s both factually accurate, and so simply stated as to not require a very high bar of intellect to comprehend it. Well done!

I agree that their actions will - and should - speak for themselves, and that we know what Obama’s record is on the matter, as his time is done. Surely we can agree that he had a shaky start, to be sure:

The issue is still quite open for Trump, as he still has six (6) more years, at a minimum, but he seems to be off to a rather hot start (did you miss all of this?):

So, let’s agree that my comment was entirely accurate, true and that we’ll each stay vigilant and make sure that he stays the current and exemplary course on GLBT issues.

Let’s have a contest to see who can name the most Presidents who each supported gay marriage throughout their presidency?

    I’ll go first:

    1. President Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the United States of America and a Republican.

    Your turn.

Tell me more about what this entails / means, please, as it has the immediately distinct scent of something that I will absolutely hate.

what I mean is that whether you are a heterosexual biological male or not, you should receive the same legal/civil considerations blind to that and likewise your access to needing hormones because you are "low T", want to prevent pregnancy, or having hot flashes, should not be evaluated differently than needing hormones to maintain one's sexual identity.

Which one overturned established policies benefitting transgenders?

    1. Donald J. Trump

What is the criteria other than "Whatever Trump does is right and is the bestest" which determines most friendly, anyway? Plus, he wasn't exactly the most enthusiastic supporter of gay marriage, threatening to overturn it at various points, then conceding it was "settled law". I'm happy that he's not challenging it, but "most friendly", again, is pretty charitable.

Which of those are medically necessary?

And even if so, insurance companies still deny medically necessary stuff all the time. Is that somehow unique to transgenders?

What’s the civil stuff about? Every American has civil rights.

Which policy did he overturn that benefitted transgendered people?

You still need to name a President who supported gay marriage throughout their term. I’ve kicked you off with Trump, the next one is on you.

    Got elected.

Placed openly gay people throughout his campaign and administration?

Supported gay marriage from Day 1 - the only President to do so. In history.

Hell, what else you need, man?

I disagree that he supported them throughout. he campaigned that way. he clearly has not continued that support.

I've noticed a certain pattern here, and it's not one that is "exemplary" on LGBT issues(particularly not so on transgender issues). But since you posted a video of Obama in 2008 saying a marriage is 1 man and 1 woman, I guess Trump is actually the most LGBTQ+ friendly president ever. I apologize for the confusion and my erroneous statement.

"not a protected status." well, all statuses of that sort should be. you shouldn't be able to discriminate based on a identity trait that in no way affects their work or whatever.

Really? The military ban, for one.

    https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/dominicholden/trump-trans-military-ban-takes-effect

I always like it when you play dumb when it comes to Trump not looking good ("Prove it!"). His choice for VP, nor some of his judicial choices, also doesn't really scream a guy interested in being the champion of gay rights.

For what it's worth, I don't think he really cares one way or the other on the subject. He's not some homophobe, but it's not important to him, clearly. Saying he's the best on LGBGT issues based upon the fact he chose not to challenge a law and ruling established before he was in office is a bit of a stretch, though.

What is this, the ol’ Racist Democrats Became GOP 2.0 silliness?

He is the first and only President to support gay rights for the entirety of his time in office.

You may not like that he has, and you may wish it was anyone but Trump who earned that distinction, but it was, is and will always be Trump.

I don’t even know what this wall of hyperlinked text is. But as to your written text, yes, we are in agreement that Trump is the most GLBT supportive POTUS in history.

    You’re welcome.

    Oh, that.

Transgenders could negatively affect the lethality of the fighting force, and have no business serving in any military role, whatsoever, and without a singular exception.

This matter has been debated and settled, including by SCOTUS.
