Sure. But they don't have a deep bench on specialists. The incompetent folks can be exposed and still be irreplaceable.

They’ve repeatedly tried to get a successful launch on that rocket type in the past, and for randomly occurring and unknown reasons, have yet to quite perfect it.

Failure can be such a subjective term. A failure to one may be success to another.

As a general rule, I think it’s almost always smartest and best to keep your capabilities and resources secretly hidden, and particularly when it comes to making war.

But, I also realize that some tangible advantage can be gained through an acknowledgment or hinting of the same, depending on a myriad of circumstances, both un/known and un/obvious.

And if that’s really the aim....well, it only makes sense that you’d want to say it so clearly, loudly and publicly as to be impossible to ignore...so as to maximize the desired advantage, and which you hope that a disclosure will allow / achieve.

So, if you can name me a better, more effective or more widespread means of saying something than POTUS’ Twitter....I’d like to know what that is. Perhaps that it’s singularly the POTUS who possesses the ultimate and immutable authority to immediately declassify and disseminate anything, singularly based on his own personal direction, is neither a random nor an unintentional coincidence.

Things are rarely as easily and directly discernible as they may seem, particularly at first blush.

That's a really interesting point that you would have been incapable of accepting, much less making, from 2009 until 2016. The double standards are so glaring, it is kind of amazing.

Had such an idea been seriously suggested to anyone within 3 rings of influence around any of Trump’s predecessors, they’d have been laughed out of the room and never invited back in.

This whole deal about the hurricane map and the sharpie is the funniest temper tantrum he's thrown since the inauguration photos.

    An inexcusable failure.

But if it leads to a purge of those who are not already aboard, some good can come from it.

Not a 1:1 scenario between these two.

The funny thing is the delusional assclown seems to be the only one who doesn’t see how it makes him look even worse.

The guy that handed him the map played it very cool, cooler than I could have, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was shitting bricks on the inside.

This is what happens when someone is constitutionally incapable of saying "I made a mistake." They double and triple down.

You know, he could have avoided all of this if he would have just nuked the damn thing.

Yes, you are correct, Mr. President.

This is what you said, however:

"We don't know where it's going to hit, but we have an idea. Probably a little bit different than the original course. The original course was dead into Florida. Now it seems to be going up to toward South Carolina, toward North Carolina. Georgia is going to be hit. Alabama is going to get a piece of it, it looks like. But it can change its course again and it could go back more toward Florida."
He clearly made a geography mistake - or some kind of mistake. It really wasn’t that big of a deal - maybe embarrassing. But, his inability to accept that and move on without doubling down with lies and reconstructions further highlights what we are dealing with here and is much more embarrassing...or should be. This isn’t the media lying.

Yes, and a president less consumed with himself would scold the media for worrying about the most irrelevant aspect of this whole weather catastrophe, i.e. "Who gives a shit if I accidentally included Alabama? There is a much more important issue of suffering and destruction to focus upon.".

But, no. As usual, it's always Trump First, then worry about other shit which can be done to give him credit for doing and refer back to Trump First. I really don't care if he drew an extra semi-circle with a sharpie, but I do find it amusing and a fitting example of his overwhelming need to serve himself over anyone else (And the unremitting lie of America First).

It’s rather ridiculous that with a major Cat 3 bearing down on the east coast, the President is giving a mini-press conference using a hurricane forecast cone that was almost a week old and going in the wrong direction to try to cover for his slip of tongue or geography error.

I’m not saying he was telling people that is where it was going now - but the focus seems to be screwed up.

I watched Zero Dark Thirty again last night. Afterwards I went on youtube and watched Obamas announcement and several videos of the celebration. Elegant President, the Country coming together as 1.

Truly sad where we have found ourselves.

I, honestly, think it will get better when he's out of office. Whether a Republican or Democrat follows him doesn't matter much. I don't know of a president so deliberately divisive as he has been and I've looked at most of them pretty extensively. He fans those flames of demagoguery so hard it will be astonishing, in retrospect, to see the difference when the next person takes over.
