Penn State is giving a masterclass in how not to run a coaching search. It’s pretty clear they had no plan after firing Franklin. I guess they just assumed people would be lining up and begging for the job.

 

Will never understand firing before having a clear plan and plan B and C. There is no advantage in doing it early without a plan

 

PSU is about to have to hire Jeff Brohm which opens the Louisville job. Will Stein, a Louisville alumnus, just took the UK job. Is there a way for Stein to do the funniest thing and back out of UK and become the biggest villain ever in Lexington?

 

Got to hand it to Kentucky. They had their man ready to go before they pulled the trigger.

Turns out, they had the only D1 head coach okay with all the rapey stuff. Guess they are gonna have to give Art Briles a call.

 

Sounds like they are going to have re-call Urban. Best cultural fit available.

If you’re Penn State, there’s no way you can let it get past Chesney. They should have taken a couple of big swings in October, and if those didn’t pan out, moved on to their second-tier candidate(s) in early November. You let Chesney know that if you haven’t received a commitment from anyone else by Thanksgiving, the job is his.

 

I think they should try to land Franklin again.

 

Man, I dont think they had tiers. I think they thought they were going to sweep Urban Myer off his feet.

 

Florida seems to have found Napier 2.0 in Sumrall. Comes across pretty unintelligent.

PSU also whiffed on Brian Brohm. Now apparently just swinging for the fence with Brian Daboll... who has spent exactly 1 year in college football this century.

 

It sort of reminds me of our arrogance many years ago.

 

PSU didn’t get the death penalty like they should have, so now they’ve Epstein’d their program. Love to see it.

 

At this point you should probably try to identify a great coordinator who seems like head coach material.
