There's a lot of discussion of the stupid NFL roughing rule in the other thread, so I just wanted to post this here:

The college targeting rule sucks. Nobody knows what the [uck fay] the rule is or how to enforce it. The rule may or may not be different depending on whether you lower your head, hit the guy with the ball, hit the guy who doesn't have the ball, hit the quarterback in the pocket, hit the qb running, launch, duck your head, let your helmet touch his, and probably some other variables impossible to measure. If you don't want hard hits, ban hard hits; otherwise, let them play football.

I was flipping back and forth between games Saturday, it was amazing how targeting on one field wasn't even looked at for targeting on another, and that's [uck fay]ed up.

It's a good idea in theory, horrible in practice.

Yep. I'm all for improving player safety. It's stupid to willingly put your brain at risk to make a tackle, or to pick up a yard. But if you want to stop defenders from blowing up a ball carrier, figure out how to phrase it so everybody knows what it means and make that the rule. I still don't know whether Warrior's overturned penalty should have been targeting and don't understand why the MSU safety was flagged in the Kentucky game.

I thought the announcer in our game had a valid point.

If the defender is trying to wrap it shouldn’t be targeting.

Good for them. It's about time players had some power.

How funny would it be for them to be true and Fields just suffer a complete meltdown Saturday?

I think they should be able to transfer without penalty but not sure how I feel about quitting mid season.

Coaches often leave teams high and dry at least for the offseason.
