So, this week our undergrad student worker went down to Auburn for a vet school interview and said a bunch of the students live in trailer parks. I said, “Perfect!”

 

I thought this was common knowledge?

 

some amount of UT students do too. that's what working your way out of generational poverty looks like.

 

A night in college where I said the words "well, she's not going to die here" ended up with me carrying a girl over my shoulder into a trailer in a trailer park in Halls.

Fun times.

 

I was about to say the same. There aren't many university towns in the country that don't have students living in mobile homes. I don't even look at it as a "generational poverty" issue. It's a "these f'ing dorms are too expensive" issue. I paid $5400 for one semester of a dorm for my son and promptly moved his ass out.

 

$1300 a month to share a bedroom and bathroom with someone is pretty bad. I also don't like that they jack up food prices on campus. I guess I am moving towards team Bernie on a few things

 

very true. I just meant it in the sense of not having a parent covering any housing or living expenses.

And a lot of the private housing near campuses is skyrocketing in cost.

Trailers in Auburn are considered generational wealth.
