I thought he was done in 2015 after blowing 14 point leads against Oklahoma, Florida, and Arkansas, and being down 24-3 to Georgia, but Josh Smith makes an amazing play on 4th down, they fumble the kickoff, and here we are.

I genuinely think beating Georgia saves him, unless we lose a minimum of three more games. The fan base is way too quick to forgive.

 

He has to lose a 5th game. Losing to FL, GA, LSU, and Bama will be considered acceptable to enough. He has to lose to one of the weaker teams. So he can survive at 8-4. It will mean an ultimatum year in 18.

This team looks about like his last 3 in that they find a way to lose winnable games, come back from double digits, and could very well go 8-4 again. If he beats GA or LSU, he can still lose one to the scrubs.

TAMU finished the last three seasons on losing streaks because the Stephen F Austins of the world were off the schedule.

 

You are forgetting the most important part. Against UGA the team DIDN'T QUIT. Players not quitting is the ultimate coaching accomplishment. However, when players actually did quit, as they have throughout the Jones tenure (Hurd, Williams, etc.) that is meaningless.

 

That's obviously why Butch wants 5 star hearts.

 

He could probably have just won one out of South Carolina/Vandy and be okay because Tennessee is in the Sugar Bowl. But, just like every other time in his career, he failed when something worth a shit was on the line. He did it at Cincinnati too.
