What's the scariest movie or tv series you've ever watched? Any sort of hang around in your mind for a time afterward? Any you wouldn't watch alone in a remote cabin in the woods, or even at all? Had someone tell me that The Ring "messed him up", and I'd never heard that (but haven't seen it) one before, so I thought I'd ask. Almost every paranormal-based scary movie petrifies me, lingers for awhile and I wouldn't watch alone, or again, so i'm no standard. Axe murderers, knife hands, zombies, aliens, werewolves - couldn't give a shit less. Spooks, haunts, haints, demons, etc., literally, can only barely watch once every blue moon, if even then.
The Ring was pretty scary. I don't know that it "messed me up", but it definitely screwed with me for a few days. I wouldn't watch The Blair Witch Project now, in a cabin in the woods. That one hung around for a while too.
Never been bothered by any movies/shows. The only thing that I've ever looked at that has bothered me is a particular JFK autopsy photo. I've seen some ****ed up stuff in my life, but for some reason, one of those pictures really messed with me. Still bothers me to look at it. Exorcist. Insidious was surprisingly scary up until the last 10-20 minutes, and then just got ruined. The original Omen.
I'm surprised by both of these. Not a critique in any way, I just never thought that either was considered a hard-core fright flick. Until my friend said his thing about The Ring, and now your saying it too, I honestly thought it was a legit sort of teen terror flick. Of course, I've never seen it, and was just assuming. What's so scary about it - 100% legit and sincere question, to you or anyone else?
I watched Nightmare on Elm Street when I was probably way too young to watch scarey movies. I didn't sleep well for weeks. One of the Paranormal movies, when the little girl jumped off the second floor stairs gave me goosebumps. I went in to check on my girls after that.
I hated the Oompa Loompas on Willy Wonka. Scared the shit out of me. Still hate that movie to this day.
