Sounds like borderline stalking for 4 months from what I read. Girl finally just stands up in classroom and tells him she's not dating him (because it is her best friend's ex). Dude snaps.

 

The dude that drove a truck through a crowd in Canada was pissed off that women didn't want to date him too.

Is the “everybody gets a trophy” culture to blame here?

Kids grow up always winning, always getting what they want, so when rejection finally comes around, they don’t know how to cope.

Mix that with some loose screws, and maybe this is what we get? Just thinking out loud here.

The dad is saying he was bullied. I don't know, maybe he was. I think it's just a 17 year old trying to show how tough he was and wasn't going to be made to look like a fool anymore.

 

I think the is one way the me me me culture manifests it's ugly side as the main root.

 

I would have just fought the ex boyfriend back in the day, then not get any.

 

There's something to be said for just letting boys duke it out, imo. Every boy needs their nose bloodied, and needs to bloody another boys.

 

Could be a contributing cause, but I wouldn't think it's the root.

 

It’s happening at the same rate as the 70’s and 80’s.

There’s around 56 million students in Pre-K through 12 grade in America. There’s going to be a few crazy in there.

 

I'd go with the last part. He may have been picked at as well, but that sounds like dad reaching for a reason.
