Can’t we all fall under that category though? I wanted big hefty fired on the spot and left in the swamp after the UF game in 2007. He deserved to be fired. Mike Hamilton led us to football purgatory after that, but Fulmer still deserved to be fired. I’m behind big boy now though. I’m sure a lot of Vol fans feel the same.
If I were sneaking around a skyscraper that had been taken over by terrorists and I ran across a frightened Phil Fulmer who appeared to be hiding from said terrorists, I'd give him an unloaded handgun, then casually turn my back to see if he tried to shoot me.
What I'm referring to was prior to all of that. It dates back to the NCAA investigation into bammers buying a Memphis recruit back in the late 90s, early 00s. Pauline and the rest of bammer nation saw Phil as their great Satan in its wake. http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2015/06/no_college_is_ever_going_to_ge.html I never hated Phil. He won a natty. Did he make mistakes? Sure. Could he have been better? Probably. I wanted him gone when he got canned, and he handled it poorly. Still, I never hated the guy no matter how many fat jokes I may have made about him.
My favorite fat Phil joke was told by Fake Philly on Basilios show in the early 00s. "What do you call a canoe with Fulmer and Chavis in it? A submarine CYA!"
