I've rode them out in boats, trailers and busses, I don't really pay them attention

For as many situations we have, every time I'm looking up northern Mississippi and Alabama are getting hit or under tornado warnings. They are the new Kansas.

Wind starting to kick up here in Norris.

Went through East Nashville a few minutes ago. Not that bad here.

I swear there is a severe thunderstorm warning somewhere in northern Alabama every single day.

There's a second line behind it that may cause the trouble.

Whatever diety controls this mess is finally as tired of their shit down there as we are.

I follow James Spann on Twitter (best thing about Alabama, the entire state, bar none), and I swear all he does is posts pictures of him speaking to elementary school classes and severe storm warnings.

I think that one will skirt north of us.

Been without power for the last 1.5 hours. Had 80 mph straight line winds coming through.

We lost it this morning for about an hour. Started winking on and off about half an hour after the transformer was repaired/reset/whatever, and it's been off for the last four hours.

And now my power is out, tree down the street decided we needed some dark time.

Our power is still out. Took a drive with my wife and dog and found that over 100 pines were down in a new subdivision near our house with several having fallen across power lines. A little further down the road, lines were down where a tree had split in someone's yard and fallen snapping the power lines.

So spoke with our director of schools tonight. Reason they called off school was because insurance called and said buses could not be on roads between 3 and 4 today because there were projected 60mph or greater winds. So I learned something new.

And he was making fun of himself for calling off school today.

I feel for the parents who don’t have or can’t line up child care at the last second. I’m sure it can be a huge pain in the ass. Hell, my coworker had his son in the office today for a little bit.

We probably need to be more accommodating to parents in general somehow
