It's been coming for a few years, as the youth teams have been doing very well the past 5-6 years. Part of it is simply good fortune, the "Golden Generation" sort of phenomenon which can happen to countries from time to time. Most recently, you think of Spain, which has always had talent, but the 2006-2012 version was their moment where a collection of generational talent came together. France probably has this now.
