This simply isn’t true. Since Kroenke took full control in January 2018 they have splashed: 55 million on Thomas Partey 28 million on Gabriel 88 million on Pepe 33 million on William Saliba 30 million on Kieran Tierney That’s over 230 million on 5 players. Now, yes, you can argue that they haven’t spent the money wisely, or should have bought somebody else with the money, or they can do better business selling players on (Alexis and Aaron Ramsey come to mind here), but you can’t say that they haven’t spent any money on the team since they took full control.
I’m absolutely not counting his tenure as starting in 2018. And I stand by my statement that he doesn’t care about Arsenal. How often does he attend games? Also, I didn’t say he never spent money on the team, but he’s certainly not investing all he can under FFP. He’s the owner of Arsenal to make as much money as possible, and this new arrangement allows him to make a lot more money with less on field accountability.
I’m not counting his tenure as starting in 2018 either. But I’m counting his tenure of full control of the club as starting in 2018. Because it did. And the spending has been much more robust since that point.
I’m not sure I understand your point. Are you implying he was prevented from investing more in the transfer market before 2018?
The expanded champions league with auto bids for certain clubs just based on name and the ESL are both terrible ideas.
I’m saying the same thing I’ve been saying all morning. The club has spent significantly since KSE took full control. So to say he “doesn’t care about Arsenal” is incorrect. You’d have to ask KSE what stopped them prior to pre-full control.
We will have to agree to disagree. Kroenke controlled well over 50 percent of the club since 2018. The only thing stopping him from investing more was his own lack of interest. I'm pretty confident the increased spending since 2018 has more to do with needing to show support for new managers rather than anything related to Usmanov. And when I say he doesn't care about Arsenal, I'm saying he doesn't care about on field performance. I don't doubt he cares about them as an investment.
If they were not having to share money with all the pleeb teams throughout Europe, they would be where they are supposed to be. This is a fight back against evil socialism!
A nice temporary out for clubs that can't manage their finances well. They'll be back in the same boat in a short amount of time, and with the ire of most of their compatriots.
I appreciate the sentiment but are you telling me that any of these players wouldn’t immediately jump to a Super League club if called upon? They’re really going to turn down an offer sheet that would or could significantly change the financial fortunes of their family for years to come?
I doubt players get much. This is a move to help clubs cover the debt they've brought on themselves with terrible financial moves.
I always thought FFP was supposed to keep the owners in line, too. This will just kick their can down the road a few years and then we will need a SUPER- super league.
Barcelona will keep overspending. Florentino will keep making terrible financial decisions. https://www.sport.es/en/news/real-m...-million-around-200m-less-than-barca-11480264 Clubs will do the same thing they do to EPL teams because they know the money is there.
I don't think Bayern or Dortmund will. Germany is really tied into the fans, and fans don't like this.
