Some statistical perspective on JG

So, JG doesn't have stunning numbers on the year in terms of yardage and TD totals.. especially compared to his SEC brethren. JG is one of only 4 SEC QBs to not have at least 2000 yards at this point in the season. So to a casual observation, JG looks to be significantly behind his opposition and a long way from the media front runners like Tua, Ta'amu, Lock and Fromm.


However, if you look at how he's played against AP Ranked and SEC competition, the numbers speak for themselves. So, excluding Tua and the other under-2000 passers... here are JG's stats against the 2k+ SEC passers to this point:

You put in a lot of work, and I appreciate it, but the out of order ranking exposes my laziness.

Tied for 5th against SEC competition, 1st against ranked teams.

 

Seems like he’s been sacked a lot more than those stats reveal... maybe it’s just that when he does get sacked, it’s for about a 70 yard loss...

 

He’s probably been hit 3 times per attempt

 

Yeah, he may have two sacks in a gamebut get plowed 28 times.

The quarterback always gets either too much credit or blame. Our offense sucks because our line is small and soft. Our running game doesn’t scare anybody.

Whats the stat on how many times we have had our guy beat but have to wait on a late and underthrown ball

 

But our big guys have still gone up and got a couple.

They have to. If underthrown, a sure td turns into a 50/50 ball. At least 12-15 times this year.

 

Callaway is the punt returner, no?

 

If JG had even the slightest inkling of pocket awareness we’d be so much better off.
