So, JG doesn't have stunning numbers on the year in terms of yardage and TD totals.. especially compared to his SEC brethren. JG is one of only 4 SEC QBs to not have at least 2000 yards at this point in the season. So to a casual observation, JG looks to be significantly behind his opposition and a long way from the media front runners like Tua, Ta'amu, Lock and Fromm. However, if you look at how he's played against AP Ranked and SEC competition, the numbers speak for themselves. So, excluding Tua and the other under-2000 passers... here are JG's stats against the 2k+ SEC passers to this point: Splits versus AP ranked opposition: Drew Lock (2902 yards) 56.4% comp 5.43ypa 4 TD 3 INT sacked 9 times Jake Fromm (2061): 64.6%, 7.88ypa 6 TD 3 INT sacked 7 times Kellen Mond (2680): 55.9% 8.35ypa 6TD 3INT sacked 14 times Jordan Ta'amu (3831): 43.3% 5.18ypa 1TD 3INT sacked 5 times Stidham (2294): 64.2% 7.21ypa 5TD 2INT sacked 7 times Shurmur (2477): 56.2% 7.23ypa 4TD 2INT sacked 7 times Bentley (2244): 56.5% 6.37ypa 7TD 7INT sacked 6 times Franks (2030): 59.5% 6.14ypa 2TD 3INT sacked 2 times Burrow (2230): 50.8% 5.91ypa 1TD 4INT sacked 19 times JG (1768): 64.8% 8.36ypa 7 TD 0 INT sacked 11 times vs. SEC Competition: Drew Lock 58.2% 6.43ypa 8TD 7INT sacked 12 times Jake Fromm (didn't play Bama and the one good SEC D he played he was horrible) 65.8% 9.08ypa 14TD 5INT sacked 10 times Kellen Mond: 58% 7.20ypa 9TD 8INT sacked 25 times Jordan Ta'amu: 59.9% 8.14ypa 7TD 6INT sacked 22 times Nick Fitzgerald: 50.3% 5.57ypa 6TD 6INT sacked 18 times Stidham: 60.5% 6.75ypa 6TD 4INT sacked 14 times Shurmur: 58.2% 6.70ypa 12TD 3INT sacked 15 times Bentley:60.7% 7.73ypa 11TD 9INT sacked 9 times Franks: 56.0% 6.85ypa 10TD 5INT sacked 10 times Burrow: 56.0% 6.96ypa 5TD 4INT sacked 21 times JG: 59.9% 7.76ypa 8TD 2INT sacked 14 times
You put in a lot of work, and I appreciate it, but the out of order ranking exposes my laziness. Tied for 5th against SEC competition, 1st against ranked teams.
Seems like he’s been sacked a lot more than those stats reveal... maybe it’s just that when he does get sacked, it’s for about a 70 yard loss...
The quarterback always gets either too much credit or blame. Our offense sucks because our line is small and soft. Our running game doesn’t scare anybody.
Whats the stat on how many times we have had our guy beat but have to wait on a late and underthrown ball
