Gonna get scalped, but I have never heard of Isbell before now and I have listened to a few of his songs and they don't do anything for me.
Everybody's got their own thing. But if you're into incredible story telling from a songwriter (this is not me trying to be snobby, I care infinitely more about story telling chops than guitar playing chops, but Isbell has both in spades) , I'd keep listening to more songs.
I want to hear TVA live, too. Also, just got an email that I got two tickets for Oct. 26th at the Ryman from the pre-register/ticket request that they did this week before the tickets go on sale to the public tomorrow.
Going to see Todd Snider solo tonight. Only seen him with his HWA band before. Pretty pumped. Also going to the Bijou show on Monday.
Margo Price puts on a hell of a live show, by the way. Tyler Childers opened for her at the Ryman last year. I saw Childers at Exit/Inn too. He played from 10:30 pm to 1:30 am
Saw her there and she does, but I opted for Colter Wall opener. Would have went with Childers if I knew I’d see Colter a few months later.
To that dumbass's credit, he did an interview and someone mentioned it. He said he's just singing it, the guy that wrote lives it and if it led to more people finding out about Jason Isbell he would be happy.
its gonna feel like 90 degrees at Ascend tonight as I will be sweating profusely listening to the Symphony play Queen. May make myself puke after a couple of songs so we have to leave
Just heard this on the radio and forgot how good this song is. Written by Tom T Hall (bow your head when you say his name) and sung by Jeannie Riley
