Jean Luc Ponte (sp?) was the electronic violinist of choice back in the day.

My perception is Vietti is influenced by Hip Hop (or however music aficionados wish to classify) and Ponte is influenced by jazz.

 

I'll have to check out Ponty. He might make it as my second favorite Jean-Luc P...

Vietti is definitely hip hop. But the man has range--it's almost a violinist that can fiddle. (A rendition that can sing and dance).

He was classically trained, and then decided to go busking. Which is awesome. But Empire State of Mind, Mona Lisa, See You Again. All fabulous.

 

I have a vinyl of Ponty. I forget which one. I think he played as a guest with a various number of classic rock bands.
