Sad day. I hated the man throughout his tenure with the Gators, but over the years he's been something I've learned to appreciate. The conference is losing a great coach and character.
Barring health issues, I'd say he's either just beaten, and can't go - or he's trying to get USCe to let Jr. take over as interim, with the hope that he goes on a little run and they give it to him full-time. I'm not sure that's going to work, now. Maybe 3-4 years ago.
Hi, guys. Had to run and get beer after seeing this. Not sure why he retired so suddenly. I'm really hoping there's nothing health related going on. Spurrier did say he would step away when he felt he could no longer win. Maybe his heart isn't in it anymore. Ray Tanner better have a plan. I know that much.
Strong still isn't safe and neither is Golden. So USC, Texas, Miami, and South Carolina could all be looking for coaches.
I would have went to the jr game just to boo him one more time, because that's what he would've wanted.
DV - It's a short trip from Knoxville to Columbia, if you guys need us to send someone over. I'll drive him. Just say the word.
Even worse!! A golden sombrero against the worst coach in recent memory (not named DDIAPOS) would be too much for me to bear also. Happy trails OBC.
