I have two stage AC/heat so I keep it constant. Let the low stage keep it down, let the high stage run it down in the first place.

Is there a better method for setting temp upstairs vs down? As in, colder upstairs to keep displacement downstairs lower, or vice versa?

my mom had surgery one summer and wasn’t able to work.

Which meant that we couldn’t afford to run the air conditioner.

It really sucked but you get use to it.

I remember lying on the floor one night in Port-au-Prince with no AC and thinking I knew what bacon felt like

Nothing like working 16+ hours, taking a cold shower, and trying to sleep in a 85 degree house.

The AC definitely wasn't running low in our house.

I hit a curb and lost the A/C in my first car, a 1984 Honda Accord.

    It also sucked.

Y'all had AC as kids? Can't hide money. Seriously, I think we got a window unit around my freshman year of high school.

At the risk of subjecting everyone to another one of my PC stories....

I lived on a Pacific atoll at 30 minutes north of the equator which was about 1/2 mile wide with a lagoon side and ocean side. Temps were 95 every day and 85-90 at night. It was [uck fay]ing hot. However, the locals built all their houses on the lagoon side and the ocean side was barren. I asked why and was told the ocean breeze was too cold for living next to the sea. Oh, and there's no electricity on the island, either, so there wasn't even a fan available.

I can't tell you the misery of sleeping in a shack under a mosquito net with 90 degree weather and absolute calm and stifling air to breathe. I love A/C more than you can imagine.

My house growing up was 75 summer/68 winter. I have my place set to 78 and my bedroom is more like 80. Any lower and I'm cold all the time, but in winter I keep the place cold(low 60s) and use a heater in my bedroom and just have blankets and hoodies and whatnot in other rooms.

80? The hell do you sleep in that? Does it make your vagina all sweaty and stinky?

Right now it’s a balmy 76 and I’ve got the air off and windows open. It’s glorious

It’s already down to 84 here now. What are you running right now?
