Did this ref just cheat for Bama?

Ref marks with his foot then moves it back about two feet as he's spotting the ball.

 

Its a though he looked back to see where the first down marker was so he could move the ball up to ensure the play resulted in a Bama first down.

 

Good post as usual OV75. Proof positve as far as I am concerned. The league office needs this.

My natural instinct was to rationalize or defend this... But I have never seen one mark a spot, then move it further up while LOOKING BACK TO WHERE THE STICKS ARE. I have no explanation other than the one insinuated by Oldvol.

Didn't the video replay official make a mysteriously terrible call in the Bama/Ole Miss game a few years ago? Not surprising that this crap goes on.

 

I think this kind of stuff happens more than we think. It is just like how they never measure after a QB leans forward on a sneak on a 4th and inches.

oh it does - the worst and most unreliable aspects of officiating on all levels is the spot of the ball - you see a guy run in at one angle to spot the ball and pick it up then he can't run a straight line and spots it a yard back/forward.. and just plain misjudging the spot of the ball when the knee or body is down.

 

Didn't work for me either. Will have to try at work.

If they can get the refs working for tips, they can pay well under minimum wage, or so I've heard.
