I haven't followed the case very closely, but wasn't it reported that a neighbor heard people arguing? This would certainly explain it.

 

It was also said that Hollys cousin Natalie Bobo is a stripper/prostitute who got drugs from Adams and had a relationship with Adams. Showed him a picture of Holly and said that she might be able to get Holly into a threesome.
