He's been granted a TRO and there is an injunction hearing Friday. I don't like it. But, it is what it is so why not?
I agree with what somebody said, I don’t like it, but full speed ahead nonsense is what’s going to lead to collective bargaining
There is no reason for Tennessee to penalize its team when opponents are doing this. It helps that Aguilar is a likeable guy who doesn't come across as milking it.
Plus he had a tumor in his throwing shoulder, let's see him healthy and with a full year here under his belt
He's also going to have a really short leash, he starts committing stupid turnovers, let Mac or Faizon in
I have a couple of questions. First, someone on the other site is saying it's a 15 day restraining order. I don't really understand what that accomplishes? Waiting on the other case to settle? Second, can he play Spring ball or is his surgery something that you have to recover from?
From what I'm understanding the judge feels like he has enough of a case to issue a TRO and have a hearing on Friday. In other words on the surface it looks good but lets take a further look at the case on Friday. Chancellor Christopher D. Heagerty's ruling stated that Aguilar "has demonstrated a substantial likelihood of success on the merits of his claim." The ruling applies only to Aguilar.
I wonder how often someone gets temporary relief and does NOT ultimately prevail? Seems like it rarely happens.
The NCAA still coming out with the argument that it hurts High School athletes chances to compete and earning an education is laughable. The same NCAA who has raked in millions for years off of college kids.
I mean how much are they selling the rights to their tournament for? It's some astronomical figure that has nothing to do about being fair to High School kids.
Aguilar is in a different scenario that alot of other guys, he just doesn't want his JUCO year to count since it doesn't have anything to do with NCAA.
And how much public money goes into the university system? And what is the mandate of those systems? The ncaa may not be who commodified education, but it certainly isnt the place of them to enshrine it. We ought to educate people in the fields we need to their abilities. "Earning" it puts grubby middle men into it that are only a drag on our economy and society. I [uck fay]ing hate how we have sunk into where we are on education and the NCAA is actually a part of how it happened.
With the cost of higher education these days it's become such a boondoggle. My daughter was going to go to South Alabama this past fall but we decided it just wasn't worth it, She didn't have any scholarships(which hurts) and it was going to cost 27k a year. It's just not worth it at those prices.
Very sad. There is no clear path to recouping 100k for an undergrad degree from South alabama. What are we doing?
