Really? Huge church fan. 'Sinners Like Me' album is as good as it gets and 'These Boots' might be my favorite song ever.

Yoakam's South of Cincinnati is probably one of my five favorite songs of all time, regardless of genre.

Yoakam's one of the last of the authentic country-western singers, even for a Kentucky boy.

After sleeping on it, some sad songs that merit serious consideration:

Vince Gill--Go Rest High on that Mountain
Patty Loveless--You Don't Even Know Who I Am, How Can I Help You Say Goodbye
Sawyer Brown--All These Years, Another Side
    Willie/Ray Charles--Seven Spanish Angels
Dwight Yoakam--I Sang Dixie, You're the One
    Travis Tritt--Anymore
Paisley--You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive, Whiskey Lullaby (w/Alison Krauss)

A country/bluegrass song we can all agree on.

Lots of great sad songs in this thread. I'm debating downloading a bunch of stuff, buying a handle of Jack and just drink and cry if anyone wants to join.

Another more recent really sad song, Time McGraw's Already Home.

I can't stand Tim McGraw. It's reached a level where I cant even try to give his songs a chance. A few years ago he essentially equalled himself to Hank Sr. I can't have any of that.

Was talking about the sad song discussion today at work. My buddy shot me a message that said:

She Calls Me Raymond (*drops microphone and walks away)

Let's reignite this thread. You are on a deserted island with only one country song on your ipod, what is your pick?

    Mine:

First, only having one song would suck. Also, the battery would be dead in a few hours. I would be pretty [uck fay]ing sad. With that being said, I have my song choice for the occasion.

Can't see your videos at work, but my choice is Summer Nights by Rascal Flatts and it's not close.
