Hopefully, the most long term effect of the Sunseri hiring was that it most likely accelerated Dooley's departure and seems to have made the Saban tree too toxic for Smart to be hired at Tennessee at this moment. Dooley getting fired was as inevitable as the sunrise in hindsight. Sal certainly guaranteed things happened this year, and looking back, there was a sizeable portion of the fanbase that would have been happy with a Smart hire earlier this year.
