Michael Jackson was a bigger celeb and all but for me, it wasn’t as shocking because he was kind of a weird dude and not overly surprising that he was in to something that could/would kill him. Same w/ Cobain. That’s the difference to me w/Kobe... not that we know all that much about a lot of these dudes, really, but there are people you’d be less surprised to read about in the paper, and then guys you’d never expect, and that is where Kobe fits in. Not that a helicopter crash = OD or whatever but I think y’all get it

 

we’re conditioned to seeing musicians go early. Athletes in their prime is something we just don’t see.

 

Also, it was plain that Bryant had a lot of good works coming in the years ahead.
