What do we think of the Haslam's? Is it a good thing that the Haslam's chose Currie? My interpretation of the whole thing tells me Butch Jones seat is feeling even warmer after this hire.
It's yet another in a series of bad hires by a university that has totally lost its way. Apparently the powers that be in Knoxville are frightened to death to hire anyone who will do what the majority of the fanbase actually WANTS them to do because that would mean hiring someone that would have more power/prestige than themselves. This will not be allowed to happen on their watch.
The best thing that could happen for Tennessee is for Big Jim to drop dead. The second best thing that could happen is for the feds to shut down Pilot and Jimmy go to white collar prison the rest of his life.
I believe a variation of Basilio's theory, when he says that Tennessee is capable of hiring anyone, for any position, based on these ten (10) criteria. 1. Will kiss Jimmy Haslams ass, and take his direction without either hesitation or question. 2. Be thin. 3. Will kiss Jimmy Haslams ass, and take his direction without either hesitation or question. 4. Have good hair. 5. Will kiss Jimmy Haslams ass, and take his direction without either hesitation or question. 6. Speak "southern". 7. Will kiss Jimmy Haslams ass, and take his direction without either hesitation or question. 8. Kills the interview (nevemind the resume). 9. Will kiss Jimmy Haslams ass, and take his direction without either hesitation or question. 10. When all else fails, or in any doubt, see Rules 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9.
The whole search process was a sham with nobody willing to make a decision. Then the new chancellor rode in on her white horse and made a decision.
Basilio is entertaining but I believe his insight is worth about as much as that belonging to anyone falling off their barstool at Cool Bean's [sic].
He's been out there his share of times but I give him a lot of credit, he's been closer on this AD/chancellor stuff than anybody, at least publicly
