The Hunting Thread

In my experience, an F150 works well.

 

Looks like we're hunting timber opening morning. Hurray. I get to get wet and not be able to drink coffee. But isn't it so awesome to watch ducks fly through timber? (Eh)

 

It is awesome and is usually a quick hunt.


I'm either hunting out of a tiny coffin pit or a floating pontoon, depends on where the ducks are at.

 

Teal swat both days

 

Yesterday was crappy. Enough to eat dinner though.

Today was great. Mostly mallards but some teal, gads and a wigeon mixed in.

Seen a ton of teal and woodducks.

Teal were like a cloud of blackbirds zipping overhead yesterday, but cloud cover kept them from working in.

 

We only saw one big wad of widgeons and not a whole lot of mallards but the teal were everywhere

 

Haven't been over since opening weekend, but we don't have ducks.

 

Try throwing a bunch of bread out. The ducks like bread

 

No idea why hunters don't do it. Or crackers. They will swim right over. Somebody fire a shot then everybody will blindly hit a couple with ease.

 

Or make like really sexy quacking sounds.

 

Despite knowing better, I came over.

So far it has cost me a half day of work, a dirty truck and someone threw out the last of my bourbon because I left it on the table while doing some dishes.

 

That’s what you get for doing dishes.

 

A day of hunting is better than a day of work, although wasting bourbon is a huge no-no

 

Got told to come over cause there are ducks. 22 miles from the camp. They ain't in the sky.

I can almost hear them laughing at you through that picture.

 

One on the right gets poached this year, just for width and mass, but he'd be a beast in two years.
