But what do I know? They had 4200 there on Saturday night. And it seems like they do that pretty consistently. Personally, the Smokies are a better deal. Better stadium, better 'on field' product, better tickets prices for proximity to the action, and better promotions. The coliseum is a real shit hole these days and the rink is so small.
Can thank city leadership for that. And for the Cherokees leaving town years ago. We need a new coliseum in the worst way, but I don't think it's coming anytime soon.
We built a massive convention center in a perfect spot for an arena as well, just outside of town, easy on and off, it sits empty most of the time, while the arena downtown feels like its on the verge of collapse.
The convention center craze of the late 90's and early 2000's was weird. Every city thought they were so freaking clever to be building a new one.
