Pat Summitt used to pick guys (provided they were under 6' 2") out of intramural pick up games to scrimmage the Lady Vols. The men held their own and had to play by special rules (not to be too physical/rough)
Y'all don't think women could play in today's game, that is basically "run as fast as you can to the 3 point line, shoot?"
My dad used to scrimmage against her Pan-Am teams. Said they would have possessions where they weren't allowed to jump on defense, couldn't try for steals, etc. and were told to play "easy" on defense.
Half of A, and all of AA and AAA teams at TN state tournament would crush the Lady Vols on a regular basis.
I was a practice player in '88 but faked an injury halfway thru and left. It wasnt fun at all and we couldnt freely play ball. Got yelled at and had to run the same. Some kids there decided to go to UT with friends instead of play ball somewhere so they could play well, but not allowed to explode and dunk on anybody or pull up from 20. Couldnt jump and swat set shots either. We had a regular group that played on the big court, as we called it, at hper vs Alvin Harper, Pickens and others, and were invited by women's players out "recruiting" so I was the cam beckwith tagalong.
Sure if diana comes off 4 picks she can get a window and knock a shot down but she would get destroyed on defense. Imagine Bone vs Diana.
Holy shit. I remember Kobe taking about taking a helicopter to practice and games to avoid L.A. traffic. Really sad and the guy was exceptionally intelligent, speaking multiple languages. He would've done some great things in retirement.
I get that it’s the LA teams, but why allow games to go on as scheduled yesterday and today and cancel one game tomorrow? I think I would have done the exact opposite; no one should have been playing yesterday or today, and if anything the LA game could have been a healing opportunity.
