I'm a big fan of poetry. If you come across any poems you really like, post them here.

I'll start. I read this one last night and really liked it. It reminded me of KB (no homo), and I was almost surprised I didn't see a "just the tip" reference. lol

    Sex Without Love
    Sharon Olds

How do they do it, the ones who make love
    without love? Beautiful as dancers,
gliding over each other like ice-skaters
    over the ice, fingers hooked
    inside each other's bodies, faces
red as steak, wine, wet as the
children at birth whose mothers are going to
give them away. How do they come to the
come to the come to the God come to the
    still waters, and not love
the one who came there with them, light
rising slowly as steam off their joined
skin? These are the true religious,
the purists, the pros, the ones who will not
accept a false Messiah, love the
priest instead of the God. They do not
mistake the lover for their own pleasure,
they are like great runners: they know they are alone
with the road surface, the cold, the wind,
the fit of their shoes, their over-all cardio-
vascular health—just factors, like the partner
in the bed, and not the truth, which is the
single body alone in the universe
    against its own best time.

Elizabeth Browning is solid! I've read quite a few of her husband's works as well.

    Indy is oversensitive
Throwing hissy fits to and fro
    And unfortunately he's progenitive
His example, the kids will follow

As they retell the downfall of the 8th, I suspect the poetry thread will feature prominent.

Birdy, Birdy on the window sill.
How you sit so very still.
I lured you in with crumbs of bread.
Then I smashed your little head.

I can't believe there is no one here that is sophisticated enough to enjoy some good poetry!

Should have known I wouldn't get what I requested. Sigh... ANYWAYS, here's another poem for all you poetry lovers... if there are any of you on this site.

The Charge Of The Light Brigade

    by Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Half a league half a league,
    Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
    Rode the six hundred:
    'Forward, the Light Brigade!
Charge for the guns' he said:
    Into the valley of Death
    Rode the six hundred.

    'Forward, the Light Brigade!'
    Was there a man dismay'd ?
    Not tho' the soldier knew
    Some one had blunder'd:
    Theirs not to make reply,
    Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do & die,
    Into the valley of Death
    Rode the six hundred.

    Cannon to right of them,
    Cannon to left of them,
    Cannon in front of them
    Volley'd & thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
    Boldly they rode and well,
    Into the jaws of Death,
    Into the mouth of Hell
    Rode the six hundred.

    Flash'd all their sabres bare,
Flash'd as they turn'd in air
    Sabring the gunners there,
    Charging an army while
    All the world wonder'd:
    Plunged in the battery-smoke
    Right thro' the line they broke;
    Cossack & Russian
    Reel'd from the sabre-stroke,
    Shatter'd & sunder'd.
Then they rode back, but not
    Not the six hundred.

    Cannon to right of them,
    Cannon to left of them,
    Cannon behind them
    Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
    While horse & hero fell,
They that had fought so well
Came thro' the jaws of Death,
Back from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
    Left of six hundred.

    When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
    All the world wonder'd.
    Honour the charge they made!
    Honour the Light Brigade,
    Noble six hundred!

    Indy has a small penis
As told to him by his dental hygienist
    How would she know?
Well to her he did show
    His small and unimpressive phallus

I have been told Tennyson is a distant relative.
