1. we won 2. I'm fairly certain we can't play worse 3. appears that God has taken his UT jersey out of the closet and that's all I got.
The positive here was I was not home to watch. I might have died in a car crash making a liquor store run at halftime after polishing off the Jim Beam I already have on hand.
That may be the best team we've beaten with our horrible vanilla no chances protect Dobbs offense. Which isn't saying much. Feel like Miami probably beats them by 30 at their place now though. We survived some massive mistakes by our best players and team leaders, though how much of that was down to luck is arguable. We sort of shut them down without JRM in the second half/OT. Shut them out at least. I wonder if stylistically App State aren't a great fit for us. Base nickel vs. a run-heavy offense. Could be wrong. I also wonder if we spent more time prepping for SEC offenses, kind of like a light version of the Inky Air Force game where we had no answers and just had to outscore them. It's either a wake up call for the players (coaches are beyond it), or we just got exposed.
I will watch the replay but my early takeaway is that we were bad in all phases. Appy contained run and forced Dobbs to make throws. He did not make throws. Do not be surprised when better defenses win with similar game plans. Great kid; mediocre QB.
better hope that old adage is true about the most improvement being between the 1st game and the second. We won, I am willing to forget this game and see what happens in Bristol.
