and it does sound like it was just an issue where he was charged for buying shares and hadn’t received the posted value for them in his balance.

 

yeah I’d bet his counter option trades hadn’t settled yet and the computer just hadn’t done the math. Probably would have fixed itself 24 hours later

 

at the same time, robinhood needs to think about how it delivers information- especially losses.

 

I’d say maybe not allowing a 20 year old with $16k to put in $700k of trades might be a good start

 

No idea how that happens without the funds to buy

 

The article gave an example of buying options, and boxing it in.

And the price closing in the middle, triggering the purchase of all stock. But it would have only been temporary, until the next trade day.
