How does one collect this highly prized deer semen?

 

I wondered the same thing a bit ago. I guess it could be that there's deer porn and a collection cup or maybe collected from shot deer? The answer is amongst us. Between those on the board with with practical ag knowledge, IP's worship of science, and Rockyhill going to a college that specializes in animal husbandry (don't really know what this is exactly, but the term fits right in with barner coeds getting semen out of animals in my mind), someone knows.

Forgive me....but how does this do anything helpful? So, you get a doe, get her pregnant with this.....and then what, there’s just one of these types of deers out there, then?

You keep them all penned up and shoot them on the farm? You keep them as pets?

Isn’t the introduction of a new type of deer into the wild illegal? How does all of this work?

 

Generally it's a hunting camp that has a deer fence around their property.

The hunting camp then pays for crazy genetic freaks and stock their deer farm to charge people out the ass to kill a buck of a lifetime.

 

That sounds...sporting.

 

It's not at all but there's a market for it.

 

It's highly regulated and is really only used in high fence hunting operations. It's also still a crap shoot because the doe's genes matter on antler size too

 

It's still just a white tail deer, but it's got ridiculous antlers.

 

Wouldn't the saliva contaminate it?

deer farming is a lucrative business. and yes, it is regulated to limit contamination of the wild gene pool and yes that regulation is hamstrung by people who "know better" and value their freedom more than other people's freedom so these things do escape and interbreed
