The top three have gapped everyone in terms of coaching abilitiy, marketing ability, etc. If Gruden ever coaches in college, he'll be in that group of Saban, Harbaugh and Meyer, too.

Harbaugh is going to climb those rankings quickly over the next couple of years.

I like JG's list. Would Pete Carroll be considered too far removed? If not, off of JG's list, slide PC to #3, move everyone else down one and bump RR to 11. That's mine.

Looks pretty spot on. I know the top 8 would be on my list, in that order or close to it.

I think Harbaugh will be King within three years.

i bet pete returns to college eventually just to screw around, but I very much doubt it's going to be after this year.

And that Pete will be like South Carolina Spurrier

Agreed. I just like PC, not only do I think he's a good coach but he surrounds himself with a good staff. Funny how top coaches do that sort of thing.

Probably a dumb question, but is that a good or bad thing?

i could definitely see that. but I bet it's either to come back at usc or another west coast team like Washington or Cal (flame away, but he's a bay area native and still has a house and has said multiple times he'd like to coach there). I don't think he'll go for the biggest job available either. it will be a quality of life thing.

I meant he wouldn't be 100% invested in the program. Spurrier is a good enough coach to golf 98% of his free time and still beat a lot of teams. He's slipping now, but he's had a hell of a career.

He will get you 9 or 10 wins

Gotcha. When you put it like that, just goes to show how good Spurrier is/was. Going to miss that SOB when he hangs it up.

    No votes for Chris Peterson?

If I knew what happened in '12 and '13, I might consider Kyle Wittingham, too.
