Pruitt is probably fairly unique in this regard. There aren't many head coaches that genuinely care about their guys and will go to the lengths for them that Pruitt will. That's what won over the locker room when he arrived after Butch was a complete piece of garbage. Easy to see how that wears off though when you run the most joyless program imaginable.
“Everybody told me, ‘Butch it’s hard for you right now, but the longer this plays out, the better it’s going to be. You’ll be back,'” said Jones. “I had a guy in [the Tennessee] administration call me the other day, ‘Butch, everybody here now respects the hell out of you.'” https://atozsportsnashville.com/football-tennessee-vols-head-coach-butch-jones/
Every time my cell data was slow I just assumed the bandwidth was taken up by coaches around the country sending Butch encouragement
I can't be on board, because I am the vessel. It's the coaches who keep climbing on, dropping a deuce in steerage and then disembarking.
In other news just read an article about moving Maurer to a slot receiver, a bold move to get a guy who has 4.5 speed on the field.
If I were him, I'd stay right where I am at and try to get better while thanking my lucky stars to be a Vol. But then, I am a fan.
If he's quick and tough, slot might be a perfect spot for him. He doesn't likely have a bright future as a QB.
