Reposting from the general Week 1 thread. Title should be University ContestNight, but I choked. A few scores I found interesting: Ur Doin' It Wrong - BCS teams from different conferences playing each other week 1, not at neutral site, non-rivalry (possibly excludes Big East since I can't remember which abject programs are left in it) Northwestern 42, Syracuse 41 - Probably a legitimately great game. Fun fact, Syracuse outgained Northwestern by 260 yards. Embarrassing the SEC - Kentucky Louisville 32, Kentucky 14 - At least Kentucky has a good women's gymnastics program. Well, at least one of them is kinda cute. Wait... wrong picture, but still, seriously AJC? Slummin' It - losing to 1-AA teams (or 1-A teams that would miss the 1-AA playoffs), or making it interesting McNeese St 27, MTSU 21 - Come on Raiders, Honey Badger isn't a Cowboy yet. No excuse for that. Eastern Washington 20, Idaho 3 - But this barely counts. Florida Atlantic 7, Wagner 3 - FAU with the fourth quarter TD, had it all the way. Would have guessed "no" for Wagner having a football team. Or a physical campus. Maryland 7, William & Mary 6 - Fourth quarter TD saved it for the Terrapins. At least they'll always have their mix and match jerseys. To be fair, William & Mary does have a big recruiting advantage as the second oldest university in the nation. Wisconsin 26, Northern Iowa 21 - Northern Iowa scored 14 in the 4th, but still. Youngstown St 31, Pittsburgh 17 - Fun quotes: ''I don't feel like we were dominated,'' Chryst said. ''I don't feel like we were getting hammered." Way to compete there, guy. Wake Forest 20, Liberty 17 - Down 14-7 in the 3rd, a key pick 6 turned the tide for Wake. Liberty, as is its wont, trampled underfoot. UT-Martin 20, Memphis 17 - Believe this has been covered. Hasty to rule Memphis out of Big East contention, however. Ole Miss 49, Central Arkansas 27 - Rebels losing 20-14 after 2. Watch out for Freeze's halftime speech, SEC. You've been warned. Indiana 24, Indiana State 17 - Hoosiers with the rare display of dominance. Texas State 30, Houston 13 - I guess technically Texas State is D-1A now. No qualifiers necessary for the extent of Houston's embarrassment, however. Arkansas State 24, Oregon 7 (second half) - Come on Oregon third stringers, where's the pride? *looks at jerseys* Oh. Wait, What? - huh? Nicholls at Oregon State - postponed - I understand concerns for safety, but Corvallis seems pretty secure in the event of Hurricane Isaac hitting the mainland. Nicholls losing practice time is just a perfect built-in excuse. Why waste such good fortune?
