A look at the type of defense that Sherrer hopes to bring to Tennessee. "Tenneseee fans are going to love our defense. It's going to be fast, physical, attacking defense that's going to dictate to the offense and try to force turnovers."
I imagine they will give up a big play or two because they are going to be extremely aggressive, but I'm okay with that.
Still cannot convince me that Shoop just didn't suffer from Butchitis. Everything that dude touched turned to shit.
This was my point when I was meh about the hire while some were excited. I didn’t expect any significant results because leadership was completely void.
Shoop effect. Tie up all the blockers and let your lb make a play 5 yards off the ball or make a tackle on space. Or, put jumper on the slot in dime package. Or, have your dbs tie up blocks on wr screen so your safety can make a play in open field. Or have your DTs run sideways, take themselves out of the play and give an 8 yard cutback hole that nobody is filling.
That's where Tennessee's superior conditioning kicks in! In high school, we were watching film on our next opponent. They had a fullback that was about 225 lbs. Coach said, let him break one and he'll be too tired to run the rest of the game. On the opening drive, he broke a 60 yarder. He didn't come back in on offense until damn near half time.
